‘Ré, an island to discover’
Some facts
The Ile de Ré is situated in Charente-Maritme in the Poitou-charentes region. It gets as much sunshine as the French Riviera. It’s also famous for the whiteness of its walls covered with hollyhocks.
Wherever you go, you can cycle.


It is 30 km long and 5 km large. In total, the coastline is 94 km including 44 km of beaches.

A paradise for cyclists
Once on Ile de Ré, forget your car. Indeed, Ré is the ideal place for people who can’t bear the ‘car at any rate’. 75 kms of cycle paths allow you to discover the treasures of the of the island: villages, architectural and natural sites, beaches, pine tree glades, vineyards, salterns or nature reserves.

Today, cycling is THE best way to move on the Ile de Ré. As the highest point of the island is 19 m above sea level, cycling is easy for adults as well as for children.
There are many ‘bicycle rental outlets’ and all along the cycle paths, ‘guardian angels’ can show you the way and even provide a breakdown service.
Don’t forget that there are cycle paths on the 3-kilometers bridge to the continent. So you can easily cycle to La Rochelle.
